Skjolden Hotel
THE ADVENTURE – THE SHIELD
At the very heart of the Sognefjord lies Skjolden Hotel, which must be the motorcyclist’s version of Tidemann and God’s Wedding in Hardanger. It’s beautiful, exciting and, not least, dramatic in every way, which is also reflected in our routes. The hotel is run by the Dalehaug family, headed by their youngest son Melchior. The family bought the hotel in 2015 and have restored and built a gem that is truly worth a stay. The hotel has now become part of the HUB riding family and facilitates the motorcyclist with 7 routes and three access routes.
All with a wow effect and a swing guarantee.
Adventure = Reason to go – reason to stay
What motorcyclists don’t know is that Skjolden, located at the very bottom of the Sognefjord, is home to an enormous network of wonderful roads, sights and experiences that motorcyclists can actually enjoy for at least a week. Both on asphalt and gravel. In our maps, the gravel sections are marked as dashed. All wrapped up in magnificent and dramatic scenery and sights that take everyone’s breath away.
who find time to stop, look and experience. This is an eldorado of twists and turns, terrain and topography, and delightful driving experiences like no other. The experience aspect is packed with historical sights such as Urnes stave church, Harastølen sanatorium, world-famous tunnels with a 16% gradient, glacier arms from Jostadalsbreen and large dams that can be visited. In sum – summa summarum – “reason to go and reason to stay”.
The access routes from the south, east or west are spectacular in themselves and contribute to making the entire trip a fantastic experience.
The seven routes we have documented to date will be developed over time. The shortest is 43 km, the longest 323 km.
