Used or new – trends

More and more people are enjoying their motorcycles, but sales for many brands, with some exceptions, have declined this year.
Operators are scratching their heads to understand consumer behavior and are currently implementing structural changes (read changes to the dealer structure) to get back on top of the sales statistics or take more market share.
Repairing a moving vehicle is not an easy discipline and it is therefore possible that some people risk getting their fingers caught in the machinery while doing just that. In the long run, this will benefit the motorcyclist or consumer, guaranteed.
The reasons why the industry and consumption patterns are changing are probably many and complex, but in this situation we see some trends that are interesting and these can be decisive for how the industry will develop in the next decade. New trends In the midst of the ongoing structural changes in the industry, we are also influenced by external factors or changes that affect the choices we make.
These changes are often linked to interest rates and the cost of living, price rises, changes in the market or behavioral changes related to the use of motorcycles.
We see the following trends that we are monitoring:

  • Asian players are raising the quality bar and challenging the market on price and driving experiences
  • The player picture is changing – more Asian players are coming to Norway
  • The second-hand market is growing
  • Mobility patterns and travel modes are changing
  • The adventure segment seems to continue to grow in all classes but not all brands
  • Interest in bikes with lower weight and power is growing
  • The driving experience element and skill focus wins in favor of size, engine volume and power
  • Right now, the growth potential does not seem to lie in the high-end segment
  • Customer loyalty is challenged by new products of similar quality, good aftermarket services and lower prices

The results for 2024 will provide an important indication of the direction of development, so people will be able to experience their own needs and alignment with trends and developments.
“2025 will introduce a lot of change and it will be very exciting to see if and how this will affect us.
