Fjord and mountain 2

This is by far our longest route. It’s not particularly technical or difficult to drive but offers great experiences and beautiful mountain passes. After departure, drive towards Dragsvik where you take the ferry across the Sognefjord to Vangsnes.

The route is defined as easy

Routes defined as easy are suitable for everyone regardless of experience.

Take a walk up to the statue of Fridtjof Den Frøkne at Vangsnes.
The statue is 10.5 meters high and stands on a 12 meter high pedestal.
The statue was a gift from Kaiser Wilhelm in 1913, who was a regular visitor to Balestrand for many years.

The drive up to Vikafjellet is nothing less than a joy to drive and is packed full of wonderful turn combinations that eventually give you access to a beautiful landscape and spectacle.
A stop in “Storesvingen” provides a rare and magnificent view of Vik and the Sognefjord.
Just before the tunnel at the top, you’ll need to summit again to enjoy spectacular views.
Feel free to make a stop in Voss and order lunch at Hotel Fleisher before continuing to Dale where you take off towards Romarheim via Mo.
Much of this stretch is on narrow roads through a beautiful fjord landscape.
Contrary to all motorcycle philosophies, from here you will have to tolerate driving a little on an E-road, namely the E-39, but this stretch of road is actually ok to drive so you will actually live well with it.
From Ytre Oppedal, take the ferry across to the north side of the Sognefjord and then drive back to Balestrand and Kviknes hotel.
We recommend a stop in the industrial town of Høyanger before ending the day with good food and drink with us.

How can I navigate the route?

  • Export the route to your GPS in the usual way
  • Check that the route is calculated correctly in your GPS (It is recommended that the GPS is set to select the fastest route and any avoidance is turned off for the route to be calculated as described).
