THE FIRST ADVENTURE OF THE YEAR
May 29 to June 1 – gravel and asphalt tours with Fjellkjør – based at Nermo hotel near Øyer in Gudbrandsdalen.
Learning and mastering creates driving pleasure and great experiences.
ONE OF NORWAY’S LARGEST NETWORKS OF FANTASTIC GRAVEL ROADS AND UNIQUE NATURE EXPERIENCES IS NOW AVAILABLE TO YOU
Target group:
This is an event for everyone, he or she who has bought an adventure bike and who likes to learn, use and share riding experiences with socializing, good food and good drinks in a wonderful place in Gudbrandsdalen.
Where is Nermo
Nermo is a fantastic hotel located in Øyer in Gudbrandsdalen. The hotel is run by married couple Gry Sjøtun and Jon Kristian Stubban for Johannes Nermo, who is the fifth generation owner. The hotel, which has its own golf course, has around 400 beds in the hotel and surrounding apartments. The location is roughly in the middle of the Haflell ski resort.
The king of Nermo
The one-legged king of Nermo, Johannes Nermo, is himself a keen motorcyclist who owns a small kingdom of gravel and mountain roads stretching far into Jotunheimen in the west and Rondane in the north-east. Together with a handful of landowners and a road committee, Johannes has more roads at his disposal than you will ever be able to fathom. This is what we’re going to share with you, old and new friends, under the auspices of Fjellkjør/Norseman Adventures.
New terrain – new experiences
If you’ve never gotten to use your adventure bike for what it’s intended, then this is the moment you’ve been waiting for. The gravel roads and terrain around Nermo are easy and enjoyable to ride, but the experiences are great. Gravel driving opens up the possibility of discovering a new touring universe with completely new and fantastic driving experiences, new roads, new areas and less traffic. We’re also going to prepare some technical trails in the ski resort so that those who want to can challenge themselves in technical sections. It’s just a lot of fun. We will run guided tours in groups of about 10 people with experienced guides and knowledgeable people who take good care of everyone. Alternatively, you will be able to download GPX files to your own GPS and drive alone or with others.
Does this require special skills?
Oh no, this is for everyone, the ordinary, experience-seeking driver who is curious and wants to learn or experience things with others. This requires no special skills or prior knowledge. We are here to experience mastery, unique Norwegian nature, and unspoiled food in fantastic surroundings. We will use every means at our disposal to ensure that you experience something absolutely fantastic.
Who is Fjellkjør
Fjellkjør is a “movement”, a concept, a forum on Facebook, and an umbrella for activities that focus on gravel riding with adventure bikes, often above the tree line. The prime mover is Kenneth Nordahl-Pedersen, and together with a group of highly experienced gravel and off-road enthusiasts, they facilitate wonderful rides in the Norwegian mountains. Fjellkjør was originally a meeting in Hallingdal, and is still organized in August. As the activity has evolved and expanded to include courses and trips to distant climes, the group has organized the implementation of activities in what they call Norseman Adventures. This group possesses a great deal of experience, knowledge and expertise that is shared so that you too can learn and discover the joy of driving on gravel or in light terrain. The emphasis here is on mastery, good experiences and the social interaction that occurs when you can share common interests.
Adventure on asphalt is just as amazing
We will also be running adventure routes in fantastic and unknown terrain on asphalt, with a guide, for those who do not want to challenge the gravel. Here, too, we can boast a fantastic road network and great driving experiences. This means that the many people with slightly larger machines can also enjoy themselves. We’ll surprise you with rides you’ll remember.
Untouched food, good drinks and socializing with a view
The food at Nermo is legendary and untouched. The chefs use local ingredients as the basis for great gastronomic dining experiences in a beautiful and historic setting.
With this as a framework, we can simply guarantee you an enjoyable and adventurous adventure weekend that will be so good that the weather will hardly matter. But, of course, we’ve booked great weather =0)
