We spend the winter upgrading our Triumph Scrambler 400 X and it turns out really well.
The original version looks like this when it arrives from the retailer, so it’s definitely cool and stylish, but with a few simple steps and a small sum of money, you can make it a lot rockier.
We knew in advance how we wanted to do this, but the parts catalog for the model could not supply the sooty lantern cover we wanted. We couldn’t find anything we liked online either, but decided to try the cowl glass made for the Scrambler 900. The screen set is adapted to the model and costs approximately NOK 1800.
With a skilled mechanic from AMD Motorcycles, it worked out just fine and we had a much cooler Scrambler 400 X. Of all the models in the Scrambler range, the 400 X is the most well-proportioned, and with the modern single-cylinder engine, the weight/power ratio is fresh, fun and strong enough. The great advantage of this model lies in its low weight which makes it possible to get everywhere. A true scrambleyr in other words.
We’re really happy with the adjustment and think it looks really cool. You can do the same thing for just under 5 quid, and if you’re a bit handy, you can do it yourself. The challenge lies in the need to adjust the bracket so that it fits the screw holes in the lantern holder.
