Vråvatn Round

This is just beautiful, a very pleasant hike of about 45 km in easy terrain around the charming Vråvatn. This route meets two target groups. Recreation for the pros who want to wash any lactic acid out of their legs after a hard session with a lot of altitude. It is recommended that the GPS is set to select the fastest route and any avoidance turned off for the route to be calculated as described.

This is a great route that goes through the shopping center in Vrådal and to the north end of Vråvatn.
From here you cross over to the west side of Vråvatn which starts in a picturesque agricultural area.
Most of this route is on fine asphalt, but some of the stretch has a section (4.5 km) that runs on gravel.
The gravel surface is hard and good and can easily be ridden on a road bike.

From the start in Vrådal, the landscape is slightly hilly and lovely to ride in and you can enjoy yourself all the way to Vråliosen where you can stop at the pier in Vråliosen and enjoy the view of Vråvatn.
From Vråliosen you cycle a short distance up the slopes and then turn left onto Vråvegen.
From Vråliosen and back to Vrådal on the west side of Vråvatn, the road is winding and beautiful as it meanders along the water through hilly terrain.
When you get to the south end of Vråvatn, turn left over Storstraumen bridge before rejoining the Fv38, which takes you back to Vrådal and Straand Hotel.
If you ride a mountain bike, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to find detours that offer several surprises.
On this tour, there are no opportunities to refuel with food and drink.
So we recommend you bring your own packed lunch and plenty of drinks.
There are plenty of great places to stop along Vråvegen for a food break or just to sit and enjoy the scenery and surroundings.
We recommend everyone to spend some time being curious about the canal and lock system with the boat M/S Fram, which is absolutely fantastic to sail with.
The boat M/S Fram is a converted steamboat from 1909 and now operates as a tourist boat on Nisser and Vråvatn.
A trip on the M/S Fram is an experience and you can make arrangements for catering or other services with the hotel.
Don’t miss a trip up the canal and locks with M/S Fram, it’s a great experience on a fine summer day.
