This is one of our classics that has been a recommended route for many years. The Gaustabanen and the industrial adventure at Rjukan is the climax. Set aside a couple of hours for this and enjoy one of Norway's most spectacular views and possibly the highest waffle press (1830 m above sea level). A coffee break out of the ordinary. On a clear day, you should be able to see 1/6 of the entire Norwegian mainland from here.
NB: Note that the Google map shows the wrong route from Rjukan to Tuddal in winter as it is not possible to use winter-closed roads in the routes in winter. Verify that the route goes directly from Rjukan to Tuddal before driving.

Gaustatoppen is a popular attraction and waiting time on the track is to be expected, more so during weekends and high season. Early departure on this route helps as the biggest pressure is usually when everyone is going down in the afternoon. Check with the hotel reception before setting off on this route and by all means check the weather forecasts for the mountain passes if you are early or late in the season.
The tour starts with a great drive along Vråvatn lake before you eventually gear down to swing by Dalen. Here we recommend a stop at the adventure hotel Dalen Hotel and Soria Moria Sauna. How about a bath and sauna before continuing towards Rauland and perhaps a break with Kristin at Vierli Kafeteria?
While you're still grinning from ear to ear after a great trip so far and you're enjoying the view and the corkscrew down to Rjukan, maybe it's time for lunch? Check if you can get a table with our dear colleagues at Rjukan Admini and you'll be treated to a historical experience and catering you'll be looking for. Say hello to Kaja! Remember to include a trip to Gaustatoppen as part of the tour program for this trip.
With a good replenishment in every way from Rjukan, the next stage starts, a great trip along Gaustatoppen towards Tuddal and on to Nutheim and back to Straand. The finish up the legendary Kviteseidkleivene is a great finale and a good start to the well-deserved cold one that awaits you on the terrace at our hotel. Have a good trip and drive wisely!

This depends primarily on whether you have installed a GPS, navigate by App on your mobile phone or prefer paper printouts. Here we describe the most common workflows:
Many of the routes on Hubriding use the app Ride with GPS app for route planning and navigation of the routes. You can download this as a free version or pay for extended use. Click on the Send to Device link on the map on this page, when the app has started and you see the current route, click Navigate and then just follow the route.
