Veitastrond direct

Route 7 is a relatively straightforward day trip that contains a lot of fun. The route out of Skjolden runs along the north side of Sognefjord to Hafslo on lovely winding roads. Here you get a nice flow and can feel the G-grips in the tightest corners. Hafslo is a pleasant village that leads you into the valley along the Veitastrondvatnet lake, which has its own special visual effects (large rocks from landslides and the Ice Age). The road into the valley runs on asphalt, tight, narrow and nice bends, followed by some fun tunnels until you reach the toll pass, which is a few kilometers before you arrive at Tungestølen.

How can I navigate the route?

This primarily depends on whether you have a GPS installed, navigate by App on your mobile phone or prefer paper printing. Here we describe the most common workflows:

  • Download the GPX file for the route of your choice to your computer
  • Import the file to your route planning tool (e.g. Garmin’s Basecamp or Tom Tom’s MyDrive)
  • Export the route to your GPS in the usual way
  • Check that the route is calculated correctly in your GPS (It is recommended that the GPS is set to select the fastest route and any avoidance is turned off for the route to be calculated as described).
  • Have a good trip!
  • Download the GPX file for the route of your choice to your mobile phone
  • Send/open the file in the app that belongs to your GPS model (e.g. Garmin’s Drive or Tom Tom’s MyDrive)
  • Send the route to your GPS (follow instructions that come with your GPS and App)

Many of the routes on Hubriding use the app Ride with GPS app for route planning and navigation of the routes. You can download a free version or pay for extended use. Click on the Send to Device link on the map on this page, when the app has started and you see the current route, press Navigate and then just follow the route.

Hubriding means that, based at one of De Historiske hotels, you can choose from a number of defined driving routes in the area surrounding the hotel. The routes we offer go through some of Norway’s very best terrain and include tens of thousands of bends, spectacular mountain passes, asphalt, gravel, wonderful nature experiences and the opportunity to eat well at local establishments. We’ve included sights and eateries for you to visit in the routes. You will be able to choose from a number of routes and route combinations that make it possible to choose daily stages of varying length and difficulty. The concept has been developed by Straand Hotel in Vrådal together with Norway’s leading motorcycle enthusiasts.
