Route 11

Two counties

“Two counties” is one of the most pleasant and beautiful routes we can offer. The route is 325 kilometres long and takes you through beautiful scenery and a little piece of Norway at its very best. Bring a thermos and something good to eat, because you will find many beautiful stops that you will want to stop at and enjoy. This is not a difficult route to drive even though there are a lot of bends, the entire route runs on asphalt and is just beautiful and very pleasant to drive.

It is recommended that the GPS is set to select the fastest route and any avoidance turned off for the route to be calculated as described.

The first part of "Two Counties" runs along Nisser on dusty bends to Treungen and Åmli and can only be enjoyed as a good warm-up. It's nice to stretch your legs on the pier at Treungen or visit the festive Z Museum, which has a lot to offer all of us autophiles.

A few kilometers south of Åmli, you turn left onto RV 415 towards Tvedestrand and this is where the fun starts that will last for a few hours! To begin with, you’ll take some great turns through beautiful landscapes and lakes down to Nesgrenda where you turn left onto Vålandsveien towards Blakstad, an absolutely delightful fairground road with good asphalt, a little narrow but terribly festive. Blakstad offers dining before you drive on towards Dølemo on RV 42 and 41. This stretch is incredibly charming and has guaranteed turns. You’ll pass Åmli for the second time today before turning left after 3 km up Gjøvdal towards Fyresdal. This section has a slightly worse road surface but otherwise consists of bends, terrain and vertical meters. It’s an incredibly fun area to drive in and once again offers lots of beautiful scenery. Here you can also find many great stops that can be enjoyed alone or in good company. The drive down from the mountains to Fyresdal is winding and fun, and if you’re really lucky you can refuel and enjoy a cup of coffee there, well entertained by the airport’s local model aircraft community, which operates beautiful replicas of all kinds of aircraft with authentic sound and maneuverability. As you continue north towards Vråliosen on RV 355, you’ll be happy to let off some steam in delightful “sweepers”. At Vråliosen, turn right onto RV 38 along Vråvatn and complete the charming stage in wonderful bends to Vrådal.
