2020 first class touring in Norway – it’s time to plan?

MC-avisa drove many thousands of kilometers throughout the 2019 season.
We ran tests, produced tour articles and participated in press launches at home and abroad.
At the Straand meeting alone, approx.
12,000 km in one day, spread over 80 demo bikes!

Based on basic data and an estimate, we have also found that during the 2019 season, Norwegian motorcyclists drove just over 100 million kilometers, or approx.
2 million hours of driving time.
That’s a lot, and there’s absolutely no doubt that people are happy to go for a ride on a motorcycle.
And the trend is clear, many people want more experiences and more comfort and luxury on their trips.

Throughout the 2019 season, MC-avisa’s team of four test drivers visited ten different hotels in the chain De Historiske Hotel og Spisesteder, to test driving routes, different motorcycles and the suitability of the hotels for motorcyclists in Norway.
The tours were presented in MC-avisa and on MCavisa.no throughout the season, and we have created a small year-end review to share some of the experiences from these trips and perhaps also contribute some trip ideas for the 2020 season.

De Historiske is focusing on the motorcycle segment and is making things easy for us motorcyclists:

De Historiske hoteller is a chain of 88 hotels and restaurants stretching from Sola in the south to Lofoten in the north.
The hotel chain offers Norwegian coziness and food culture and delivers the “icing on the cake” in terms of hotel experiences, local history and quality.
The historic hotels are consistently elegant and distinctive, adding a new dimension to the tour and driving experience.
Almost all hotels in the chain have been run by the same family for several generations, and each has a distinctive story that is often told by the host before or after dinner.

The chain wants to make things easier for us motorcyclists and therefore offers the facilities a motorcyclist needs after a long day in the saddle, such as washing facilities, shoe dryers and drying rooms.
Most hotels have an overview of the nearest workshops, should you need technical assistance.

A self-developed App for motorcyclists:

The chain has also developed its own App to help you plan routes, keep track of accommodation offers and benefit programs for motorcyclists.
Users of the app generate free overnight stays along the way.
You can download this to your smartphone.

Routes in all directions:

You’ll find hotels in all parts of our country, making it possible to choose roads and driving terrain in all directions and according to your own preferences.
Norway is full of bends, mountains, asphalt, gravel, beautiful mountain passes and deep valleys.
We recommend that you mobilize all your curiosity to find the most spectacular driving routes.
If you need advice, just get in touch with us and we’ll share everything we’ve learned and know.

In 2019, we drove classic models, touring bikes and innovations such as the
Yamaha Niken.
We have driven approx.
15,000 km on these trips and had a lot of fun, whatever the weather.
We’ve ridden with our own “scout” who has successfully taken us to roads and terrain we never thought existed.

Highlights include:

– Lunde-Fjågesund-Vrådalskleivene

– Høyjord-Siljan

– Drangedal-Lunde

– Åkrestrømmen-Narbufjellet

– Øvre Årdal-Turtagrø

– Atnadalen-Venabygdfjellet

We will continue with this in 2020 and look forward to sharing more joy and not least new learning on MCavisa.no.
We look forward to it.

We’ll be right back!
