The adventure school fills the workshop at Speed again…

Even the gorgeous weather didn’t stop the adventurers from sitting down on the school bench on Saturday, March 22, but the room was filled this time too. We can only conclude that the concept is good and something the bikers both like and need.

When the Adventur School has lectures, the workshop hall is transformed into a small motorcycle university

Emergency repairs and maintenance

The theme this time was emergency repairs and maintenance, and the master craftsman at Speed: Espen Sæle who lectured. In his working life, Espen has done nothing else but fix motorcycles, as well as being in charge of the workshop at Speed Motorsenter. He’s a thorough and skilled mechanic, and deserves a lot of the credit for the high quality of the workshop at Speed. If anyone should be well prepared for what can happen along the way, it should be him.

When the accident happens, take it easy. Feel free to take pictures. No need to stress.

Espen emphasized the importance of looking after the bike both before and during the trip. “Be prepared, and know your own bike,” was a recurring theme. “If you’re going on a trip, make sure your bike is ready. This will prevent many emergency repairs. Do you know, for example, that the tools you’re dragging around fit your bike? That’s a prerequisite.

Even the good weather didn’t stop people from flocking to the Adventure School at Speed Motorcenter

Espen talked about his own experiences both when he punched a hole in the engine and when his brand new Tenere suddenly turned upside down a long way down the road. Don’t worry, when this happens, think twice and take some pictures while you come up with a plan to solve the problem. The engine cover on the X-Challenger was temporarily repaired with liquid metal, and the Tenere, which was far down the road, got back on its wheels.

There’s a lot to learn here

It’s often the simple things that get you through when you have an accident. Bring an extra tube, or a plugging kit if you have tubeless wheels. And remember, it’s no good repairing your tire if you can’t get air in it. To be prepared for this, it’s a good idea to practice changing tires with tire levers at regular intervals. If you do it the right way, it’s quite easy. Other things to mention are extra levers and gear shifters. A tow rope can also be worth its weight in gold. It can enable you to be towed to a place where your bike can be repaired. This is yours truly talking about his own experiences.
We also received a number of other good tips, but most important of all: Be prepared, and check your bike regularly when you’re on the road. There’s a big difference between being able to get on with a trip using simple means, compared to having to wait for help.

The adventures of Indian Adventure

Indian Adventure can take you to the Himalayas. An amazing adventure.

In the second part of the Adventure School, we were visited by Jim Lindquist from Indian Adventure. In 2006, he started Indian Adventure together with his friend Knut de Presno. The idea came during a motorcycle trip in the Himalayas, where the two became so excited about the magnificent scenery that they decided they wanted to share it with others. Since then, the “Indian Adventure family” has emerged, and it’s getting bigger all the time. People who have traveled with Jim or Knut experience something very special. Sure, these are package tours, but in a very special way, almost like expeditions. You make new friends and close relationships for the rest of your life. Here, yours truly talks about his own experiences after a trip to the “World’s Highest”.
Jim Lindquist will take us through everything from the project’s infancy, with pilot tours and his own experiences, to the tours offered today. Most of the tours offered today are related to the Himalayas. Both Jim and Knut have lived in Asia for periods of time, and with this as a background, they have created a selection of tours that are all small adventures, each in their own way, and it is quite clear that they love this area.

Jim Lindquist is one of the founders of Indian Adventure. There is no doubt that he is a true adventurer.

India adventure not only offers tours in the Himalayas, but the company also arranges tours in Morocco, Kenya, Iceland and Sri Lanka. In addition to this, they are working on a brand new trip to Uganda.
In addition to motorcycle tours, the company also offers hiking tours in Nepal and kayaking tours in southern India. The very latest is actually a camel trip in the Sahara. Jim talked with empathy about the grandeur and silence of the desert together with the Tuaregs and their camels.

Fantastic Morocco

All in all, a great lecture, with nice trips, and a lot of inspiration, which can also be used for your own trips. Thank you, Jim, for sharing with us.
