Håkon delivered right at the top and logged a great second place in his own class and an impressive fourth place in the elite class. This is very impressive considering that his body didn’t quite cooperate during the run-up and in the period before the race. Håkon has struggled to recover from mono, so this is extra impressive.
Håkon and the team travel down a couple of days before the races to prepare optimally and the technical aspects have worked smoothly with Yamaha.
The team is important for Håkon’s performance during the race, and team manager Kjetil gives important advice to Håkon just before the start. “These races are simply a test of strength and the drivers burn thousands of calories. These guys therefore need to consume between 7-9,000 calories before these races so that they have the necessary reserves to draw from during the race. Håkon was in second place overall after five laps, but on the sixth lap he hit the wall. It’s a great achievement to finish in fourth place. Both Håkon and the team have gained valuable experience this year and if the boy stays healthy, he will surely pull this off next year. But today we’d like to congratulate Håkon and the team on a great performance in this year’s race.
