Speed is building a new future with new brands

Structural changes are taking place in the Norwegian motorcycle industry and Speed Motorcenter, led by Terje Bredal and Thor Liverød, is working hard and purposefully after BMW Motorar chose to terminate its dealership agreement with a well-established BMW dealer. This creates reactions. Speed decides to bend its neck and take on the challenge with a high level of motivation and contempt and initially re-establishes itself with Yamaha, Kawasaki and Husqvarna. “We need diversity in the Norwegian dealer structure, so this is a good thing. He who gives up is a shit =0)

The press release sent out on October 16 states:

Speed Motorcenter AS renews from 2025

Speed Motorcenter AS, one of Norway’s largest motorcycle dealers based in Sandefjord, will renew its business as of 2025. Speed Motorcenter is pleased to continue the more than 55-year-long collaboration with Yamaha Motor. In addition, the dealer warmly welcomes the quality brands Kawasaki and Husqvarna. Together, Speed Motorcenter will offer its loyal customers three very good brands and looks forward to being an ambassador for these for a long time to come.

BMW Motorcycle

BMW Motorrad has chosen to terminate the dealer agreement with Speed Motorcenter with effect from 1.5.2025. Since 1999, Speed Motorcenter has helped build BMW Motorrad into one of the largest motorcycle brands in Norway. It has been a close collaboration all the way for 25 years. BMW Motorrad has chosen to terminate the agreement as part of structural changes in its dealer network.

The way forward is with Yamaha of course

Speed Motorcenter has been working with quality products from Yamaha Motor for over 55 years.

Yamaha Motor was founded in 1953 by Genichi Kawakami and already in 1954 the first model was ready; Yamaha YA-1. It was an air-cooled, 2-stroke, 125cc engine. To test its quality, it was taken on a pioneering 10,000 kilometer endurance ride. This was the first prototype of what has always been Yamaha’s tradition: to produce top-quality motorcycles and to show the world their focus on creativity and insatiable spirit to challenge. For many years, Norway’s best-selling motorcycle has been the Yamaha MT-07. Across its entire motorcycle segment, Yamaha motor is considered one of the motorcycle industry’s strongest brands.

“Yamaha is incredibly happy and proud of the collaboration over many years and will do everything we can to make the next chapter in Speed Motorcenter’s history a great success” Morten Bronbjerg, Division Manager, PV Division

From the turn of the year, Speed Motorcenter will also sell the two premium brands Kawasaki and Husqvarna

Kawasaki was founded in 1878 by SHOZO Kawasaki, and full-scale motorcycle production has been going on for well over 50 years. As early as 1996, more than 10 million Kawasaki motorcycles were produced. This makes Kawasaki one of the world’s strongest motorcycle brands. Speed Motorcenter was a Kawasaki dealer in the 70s and 80s and is very proud to be able to offer this quality motorcycle again. Today, Kawasaki has a wide model range that includes the entire spectrum from electric vehicles, light and heavy motorcycles from cruiser to supersport, and sport touring motorcycles.

Emma Teigland at Norsk Motor Import AS (Kawasaki Norge) is delighted that Speed Motorsenter AS has chosen Kawasaki as its new partner.

“We are very pleased that Speed Motorsenter AS has chosen Kawasaki as its new partner. We know Speed Motorsenter AS as a reputable and serious player in the industry, known for its good customer service and professionalism. We look forward to showcasing Kawasaki’s many news together with Speed Motorsenter AS, and look forward to a good and long collaboration,” says Teigland.

Husqvarna is also one of the world’s oldest motorcycle manufacturers, originating in Sweden in 1903. In 2013, Husqvarna became part of the KTM Group (also known as PIERER Mobility AG), and the brand has had an adventurous development until today. PIERER Mobility AG currently produces over 360,000 motorcycles annually. Traditionally best known in the off-road, enduro and cross segments, Husqvarna now delivers quality motorcycles across the spectrum. Husqvarna’s models are very popular among younger motorcycle riders. The Husqvarna 801 Svartpilen model was voted surprise of the year at the Straand event this year.

” We at Husqvarna look forward to partnering with Speed Motorcentrer AS as they, as one of Norway’s largest motorcycle dealers, take the next step into the future.

With a good base of Street MC at Husqvarna, which in the long term will grow really strong, we see only advantages in working together to jointly expand the Speed Motorcenter AS and Husqvarna brands. At Husqvarna, we see the strengths where Speed Motorcenter has a very competent organization in everything from sales to workshop and a fantastic drive that permeates the entire company.” mvh Jonny Widholm, Area Sales Manager

Through this renewal process, Speed Motorcenter can promise all its wonderful customers that they will still get the great Speed experience. The “new” Speed Motorcenter will shortly start with some changes in its premises until February 2025. There will be construction work in the store throughout the winter season, of course with unchanged opening hours.

Speed Motorcenter looks forward to welcoming both existing and new customers to the “new” Speed Motorcenter during the winter/spring of 2025.
