Ola Stenegärd for full houses at MC Collection

Ola Stenegärd for full houses at MC Collection Text and photo: Jarl Hole On Wednesday 18.
On Wednesday, June 18, MC Collection Tidö Slott opened its exhibition about Ola Stenegärd and his career as a motorcycle designer.
The interest in motorcycle design and Ola Stenegärd as a person was reflected in the very large number of visitors.
We have to go all the way back to the opening of MC Collection Tidö Slott in the summer of 2019 to find similar crowds and enthusiasm among the audience.
It helped that Ola Stenegärd and his family were present on the opening day.
Ola Stenegärd offers himself, is friendly, knowledgeable and humble, and has time for anyone who wants to chat, and there were many this Wednesday afternoon at MC Collection.
Ola Stenegärd is today Sweden’s most famous, creative and successful motorcycle designer.
He was born and raised on Gotland, where he still lives.
After studying in Sweden (Konsthögskolan) and the USA (Artcenter College of Design in Pasadena) and various freelance jobs, including at Øhlins, he became a designer at BMW Motorrad in 2003 and worked his way up to become head of design.
Since 2018, he has worked as design manager at Indian Motorcycle.
Sweden has had many outstanding designers and constructors in the motorcycle industry such as Carl Oscar Hedstrøm, Folke Mannerstedt, Nisse Hedlund, Kent Øhlin and Acke Rising.
Ola Stenegärd is the latest addition to this formidable team of stars.
The exhibition at MC Collection showcases a range of Ola Stenegärd’s creations from the first moped he built as a teenager inspired by Arlen Ness via BMW S1000RR, R Nine T and R18 to this year’s Indian 101 Scout.
The first Indian 101 Scout in Europe belongs to the MC Collection and was unveiled by Ola Stenegärd himself on the opening day.
The exhibition is complemented by an interesting timeline of Ola Stenegärd’s career in the form of a wall showing the progression of his work from early childhood drawings to professional illustrations of his own ideas for BMW and Indian.
Christer R. Christensson and David von Schinkel have facilitated the exhibition with the help of Caroline Romare who has curated it.
MC Collection Tidö Slott and the exhibition about Ola Stengärd are highly recommended.
Tidö Slott is beautifully situated in rural surroundings outside Västerås.
From Oslo it is approx.
43 miles on the E18 and then approx.
1 mil from Västerås to the castle.
