The couple, who are the fifth generation to run Straand Hotel, have been responsible for the biggest innovations in the touring community with the Straand meeting and the HUBriding concept.
The latter in particular has become very popular with the established route and experience concept that today includes 14 routes linked to Straand Hotel.
In addition to this, the hotel owners have developed what motorcyclists love most of all, namely the environment on the fantastic roof terrace and the hotel as an arena for socializing and sharing experiences or interest in motorcycles.
No one else in Norway has succeeded so well in establishing an environment that almost everyone wants to be a part of.
Anyone can come here to ride, eat and enjoy themselves in a setting designed specifically for motorcyclists.
Hosts and staff offer themselves and ensure that everyone can experience and enjoy what they are looking for – fantastic roads, dining experiences, a trip on Nisser and the canals aboard the old Fram, new friends, old friends and much, much more.
The Straand family are pioneers
Like everyone else, Lars Arne and Katrine have been through two tough years, but have done the opposite of many other hotel owners – they have invested in development in an economic downturn.
They’re still doing that, and every year they launch new products that benefit motorcyclists.
Parking and maintenance facilities for motorcycles are being built and adapted, new relationships are being established and new products are constantly being launched for us on two wheels.

New concept: Straand Driver Development
New this year are safety days, which have been named Straand Driver Development, which will take place 27-29 May.
May, which will include rust remover activities at the airstrip in Fyresdal.
Experienced drivers and instructors will be on hand to give advice on how to become a better, more enjoyable and safer driver.
You can choose whether you want to participate in this or “HUBBE”, as Lars Arne and Katrine call it. In the evenings, of course, you can enjoy good food and drink with many other motorcycle enthusiasts on the roof terrace, which this year has been set up with a brand new outdoor kitchen.
The end of May is a wonderful and beautiful time in Vrådal where you can really cultivate your motorcycle interest with old and new friends.
Towards a technology revolution with new innovation projects
Lars Arne and Katrine have built an exciting network of well-educated and competent innovators and change agents who participate in the development of services for motorcyclists, sports car enthusiasts and outdoor enthusiasts who have grown to love the environment at the hotel.
The hosts, who themselves come from Norway’s foremost innovation environments, know very well how to develop innovation and development environments.
Relationships are built and developed with knowledge environments and new technology is developed to improve your travel and stay experience.
The latest development project is looking at the possibility of using VR technology to enable easier and better choices of driving routes and experience concepts, and how exciting is that!

There are two types of guests
In the motorcycle world there are two types of people, those who have already figured out that the hotel is an experience and has what you’re looking for and those who are about to find out that the hotel has just that.
The first category is already making its way to Straand, and for the second category, I can only recommend and plan your trip there and 27-29.

There’s almost a motorcycle fair at the hotel every single weekend, and it’s a delight to ride around the parking lot late and early.
