Around Aursund
A wonderful drive in historic terrain. Here you really get a taste of the culture around the Røros plateau and the mining culture that dates back to the 16th century. The mines offer exciting history and experiences and a visit is really recommended. The day can be topped off with short-distance dining experiences in the evening.
This round is 18 miles. Starts on asphalt north-west to Rugeldalen with a nice little detour along the main road, but be careful over the train line as this has no barrier!
Around Aursund
We follow Fv30 a few kilometers before we again take off and drive down Vongraven and up and over Riastveien with many nice hamlets, water and lakes in a picturesque landscape.
When we approach Stugudal, we turn right right after the barrier, and drive on the west side of Stuggusjøen until we again have to enter the asphalt to follow Fv705 over Langsvola to Brekken. Here there is a high probability of experiencing reindeer. After Brekken we take the road around the Tamnes Peninsula.
Furthermore, we follow Fv31 for a while before we take a detour to Gjetbergsvollen. Here we turn and after a short trip on the asphalt again before we follow Koiedalen up to Olavsgruva, before we roll on back to Røros Hotell.
How can I navigate the recommended routes?
This primarily depends on whether you have mounted a GPS, navigate by App on your mobile phone or prefer paper printing in the tank bag. Here we describe the most common workflows:
- Download the GPX file for the route you want to your computer
- Import the file into your route planning tool (Eg Garmin's Basecamp or Tom Tom's MyDrive)
- Export the route to your GPS as usual
- Check that the route calculates correctly in your GPS (It is recommended that GPS is set to select the fastest route and any avoidances turned off for the route to be calculated as described.)
- Good trip!
- Download the GPX file for the route you want to your mobile phone
- Send / open the file in the App that belongs to your GPS model (Eg Garmin's Drive or Tom Tom's MyDrive)
- Send the route to your GPS (follow instructions that come with your GPS and App)
- Check that the route calculates correctly in your GPS (It is recommended that GPS is set to select the fastest route and any avoidances turned off for the route to be calculated as described.)
- Good trip!

- Send / open the file in your Navigation App (Eg Calimoto or Detecht)
