It’s not just the design that’s fierce, tough and masculine

So here it is, the legacy of the R 80 G/S that we have come to know as the Urban GS. We don’t yet know how many bikes have been sent out to dealers, but we do know that it comes in two versions, a standard street version with 21 inches at the front and 17 inches at the rear, and a pure Enduro Pro version that can be regarded as a thoroughbred off-roader. This has 21 inches at the front and 18 inches at the rear to maximize grip and stability.

This bad boy is part of MC Oslo’s demo portfolio, so you’ll just have to head over there to check it out. The giant weighs 229 kg (wet), delivers 109 hp and as much as 115 Nm and in the Enduro Pro version it comes with Michelin Anakee Wils, which is quite a capable off-road tire.

The new R 12 G/S is guaranteed to generate increased interest in BMW’s Heritage line, which is both capable and quite masculine.

The two models are quite different in some important respects, so buyers will need to be aware of their own preferences and areas of use. The differences are not significant in terms of numbers, but will probably make a significant difference overall. The model will challenge both the R 1300 G/S and R 1300 GSA, but to what extent remains to be seen. The model is of course not a big touring or packing machine, but the strong off-road orientation of the Enduro Pro version and a high fun-factor are of course a big plus for those who really like to rock around.

The R 12 G/S is undoubtedly a rocking beast in this class and we won’t reveal too much about the results of the test, which will be published on MC Oslo’s website shortly. But we’re unlikely to reveal too much, and we won’t mince our words if we report that this is some serious stuff.
