The HUB riding team with O-A Isdahl, Terje Bredal and Johannes Nermo have this week been in Skjolden in the innermost part of the Sognefjord to drive up and quality assure 6 new routes. The results are nothing less than remarkably positive.
The roads, options and terrain are unique, and the routes invariably have their own special sights that spice up the driving experience in a spectacular way.
Mountain passes, winding roads with crazy climbs and mountain passes that make you roll your eyes and start little uncontrollable laughter balls in your helmet are commonplace here. Asphalt, gravel and lush forest roads are normal here, and you can drive with almost anything. But if you want to make the most of this, the adventure models are probably the most suitable.
All routes can be driven by Hvermansen, but some detours will require some previous gravel driving, however, the routes are laid out in a way that allows these sections to be easily avoided or omitted from today’s tour.
In HUB riding terms, this is probably some of the best terrain we’ve operated in, so all motorcyclists really have something to look forward to. Skjolden hotel has a lovely hosts, is fantastically located at the bottom of the Sognefjord and serves delicious food. This summer, some of the country’s youngest and best chefs are here to create gastronomic experiences on a par with the national culinary team. 6 promising young men and women have come here to create great food experiences.
Skjolden is actually located right on the border between Innlandet and Vestland counties and many of the routes pass through the side arms of Jostedalsbreen, such as Nigardsbreen, which lies some way into Jostedalen. The roads to these fantastic sights are rarely of good driving quality and fantastic to drive.
For example, it’s hard not to be impressed by the history of the sanatorium and madhouse at Haugastølen, where the horror film Villmark was filmed, among other things. It’s a wild ride and you can even get further up the mountain than this, but you really need to have good gravel skills.
Nørdstedalseter is another fascinating place where the hike upwards goes via a steep climb, admittedly on a gravel road, into the hefty flatness where the setra is beautifully located.
The team has experienced a lot of great things this week and we look forward to sharing the opportunities on HUBriding.no in a few short weeks. So go ahead and make your vacation plans, because there’s enough riding terrain here for at least a whole week. The experiences are lined up, so just prepare yourself. To top it all off, you’ll find that the driving routes are just as spectacular.
We’re talking a lot of vertical meters, thousands of turns and optional elements of gravel and fantastic experiences. There’s more than enough here for absolutely everyone. From now on, Skjolden is not a place you just drive past.
