NEW GRAVEL AND TOURING HUB AT NERMO
Nermo is a family-run hotel with long traditions. Travelers have been coming here for over 100 years. Johannes Nermo, a passionate adventure rider himself, is the fifth generation, and as a motorcycle enthusiast, he is carrying on the legacy with a new venture in a beautiful gravel terrain. The married couple Gry Sjøtun and John Kristian Stubban took over the operation in 2022, while Johannes continues to work on developing the Nermo brand.
The couple from Trøndelag have really got their act together and have established a very pleasant environment in the beautiful and traditional hotel, which has a very special atmosphere. Operations at Nermo are firmly rooted in the history and culture of Gudbrandsdalen, with fresh local food, good drinks and hosts who are interested in their guests.
A little thing……… Johannes the giant, about 2 meters tall, is missing a foot but still drives around the Alps and the Norwegian mountains with a prosthesis on a Honda that in touring mode has a total weight of about 450 kg! We’re impressed by that. Johannes is passionate about motorcycling and is now making it possible for everyone to experience both the hotel and the wonderful riding terrain in and around Gudbrandsdalen.

Royalty, heads of state, management teams and families all appreciate Nermo’s hospitality, homemade food and good beds. With 31 unique rooms, 2 “boys’ rooms” and 53 rental apartments, Scandinavia’s only 18-hole putting course and proximity to Hafjell and Lillehammer, Nermo is a great place to stay. In October 2023, Nermo Hotel won “Innlandets Matpris” based on its commitment to locally produced food and innovative approach to gastronomy.
Our target group
Nermo is located in the middle of a wonderful gravel and touring mecca that offers great riding experiences for ordinary riders who want great riding and nature experiences on gravel or asphalt. Our target group includes ordinary riders who own gravel or adventure bikes of different sizes, because here you can ride bikes of all sizes. Our target group loves good food and drink and is able to enjoy a portion of luxury that is firmly rooted in local and historical traditions and seeks new adventures and new friendships. We cater to everyone who rides alone, with old or new friends, family or groups, organizations or clubs.
The route offering
A dozen round trips of varying lengths have already been developed on the eastern flank between Gudbrandsdalen and Østerdalen, and on the western flank covering the mountainous areas between Gudbrandsdalen and the mountain passes towards the coast in the west. These are all driving areas that are relatively easy to drive but still offer great driving experiences that everyone can master and enjoy. During the spring and summer, these routes will be made available in GPX formats that can be downloaded from the hotel’s website or HUBriding.no.
Building networks with highly competent adventure environments
Nermo is now developing a network of competent adventure operators and industry professionals who will offer both activities and route systems throughout the summer that can be enjoyed from Nermo as a base. The offer will include activities such as:
- “First adventure” that will be one of the earliest gravel experiences you can seek out after the snow has gone in the Norwegian mountains
- Driving courses and tour concepts that can either be driven alone or with a guide
- Roundtrips between spectacular hotels in the chain “The Historic Hotels and Restaurants” with great experiences, food culture and memorable journeys
- Royale – family adventure for groups or couples
- Group tours for clubs, organizations or associations
- Theme weekends with touring and food experiences
From Nermo you can experience luxury, food, wellness, nature and local history with the motorcycle as the main ingredient. Already from this summer you will be able to take part in a number of riding activities where you can experience, learn and develop as a rider and enjoy socializing with other gravel and adventure enthusiasts.
