Yamaha is tightening up the entire R-series and this looks really good.
Everything Yamaha does in this segment is based on valuable knowledge and experience from the Moto GP circus. This is where a lot of research, development and learning takes place, which is then passed on to the series-produced street version that we can get our hands on. Over many decades, Yamaha has developed this segment, which has had many legendary models that people literally love. No one has as large an R portfolio as Yamaha, starting with the R125, followed by the new R3, R7 and the all-new R9 that we have previously featured. In addition, there are the racing adapted models R6 RACE and R6 GYTR and the flagships R1 RACE and R1 GYTR Now the 2025 edition of the R3 is being launched, which has received a facelift and a new tech package that gives A2 riders access to the latest developments on this front. The journalist has driven the R3 extensively and loves the model, which is very well suited for festive driving experiences on winding Norwegian roads. The facelift must be said to be very successful, this definitely goes straight into the “head twister category” and is simply sexy. On the tech front, the new model boasts a wet weight of 170 kg, a significantly slimmer design, a slimmer seat frame, 37 mm suspension dampers as a good link between the driver and the front wheel, and an A&S (assist & release) release system that provides softer clutch action and handles heavy downshifts smoothly. A quick-shift function is also available and would probably be a good investment, as it makes this a terribly fun tool to drive. The TFT instrument is contemporary and cool and gives the driver a sense of being in the right era. 42 hp and 30 Nm is more than enough to give A2 riders a delightful introduction to the R environment on a model that truly offers happiness and highly enjoyable driving characteristics. There’s USB connectivity, an app solution and a connectivity system (My Ride) that will satisfy the needs of the young and modern. The new R3 has clearly been taken to new heights and we can’t wait to drive it this spring. This is guaranteed to be a very popular A2 model that A drivers can also enjoy.
