Tough guy, hotel king and motorcycle enthusiast Johannes Nermo stands firmly on one leg

Johannes Nermo is a bit of a personality.
Hardhausen is the fifth-generation owner of Nermo Hotel at Øyer in Gudbransdalen and life hasn’t gone entirely smoothly for the man from Gudbrandsdalen who, just before the pandemic, lost one of his feet just below the knee.
But these uphill battles don’t stop Johannes from wanting more, and in addition to multiplying sales at the HUB riding hotel, he is developing new HUB riding with gravel and asphalt routes in Jotunheimen, as well as the sheer joy of riding a motorcycle himself – with one foot.
For the second year in a row, Johannes has driven down to the mountains between France and Italy with his friends Tore S Lie and Esben Haakenstad in search of new challenges and experiences, and the guys don’t exactly operate in the touring segment.
Hotel beds and five-course dinners on monogrammed white tablecloths have been replaced by tents and rugged mountain roads, high altitudes and steep passages – don’t forget a foot and a prosthesis…. Things don’t always work out the way you think they will, and Johannes has also been reminded on this trip that a prosthesis is not as steady as a foot on steep slopes.
Team Nermo is currently operating in the mountains west of Pimonte, which are also characterized by unusual weather phenomena, landslides and physical obstacles.
But there’s no limit to what a good team can achieve with a bit of determined stubbornness, will and their own ability to push boundaries.
When Johannes returns in three weeks’ time, we’ll take the time to delve into the boy’s adventures and future plans.
In the meantime, you can check out Nermo’s accommodation offers and slightly safer route offers for motorcyclists who still have some time left in the season.
